ZEUM(creative museum for kids)

While touring San Francisco, we stopped here, ZEUM. My kids really enjoyed this interactive technology kid's museum. We started (and ended) in the clay animation room, where we made our own clay animation figure using various colored clays and wire supports. Creating the characters was at least 1hour concentration.
Then the kids could use stop motion filming to create their own animations - this part was the the main reason we visited the museum. : )
The final product was extremely cool but it did take about 2hours(+ more).
It would take even longer if you wanted to do a multi-character video.

A brilliant museum!

Here are the sho~~~rt movies they created.
It would be better if we added background music.
But
it was an experience worthy of lots of fun.

altered book

An altered book is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form into a different form, altering its appearance and/or meaning.

I made this art book for an art exhibition in 1995. As some of you noticed, I love working with layers of several different materials, and I tried to enhance the expression of the textures with this art book.

I used glue, gesso, and matte medium to put some pages together for a thick mass.
I covered the book with fabric that i patch w...orked with different patterns.
I painted on each page with acrylic paints + medium and added decorations like embellishments, laces, and fabrics.

image story

One of the students at {studio S}FINE ARTS created characters and images for a short story, Rebellion.
He created a background image using lines and colors then drew several figures with a pencil on paper.

watercolor

It can sometimes be difficult to give a verbal description of things like colors.
